Who Are You Going For?

What do you think about when you hear the question “Who are you going for?” You may, like many others, think about a sports team or event. And that’s fine. But what I want to bring to the absolute forefront of your focus in life is, WHO ARE YOU GOING FOR?

When you go to church, are you going for God?

When you go to school, are you going for God?

When you go to the gas station, are you going for God?

When you go to the grocery store, are you going for God?

When you go visit family, are you going for God?

When you go on vacation, are you going for God?

See where I’m going with this? However, I’m not asking just in the context of who are you rooting for.

What are you expecting to get out of where you go? When your expectation is on God, and not in man, you’ll get God’s results, no matter where you are

Psalm 118:8 KJV says……

8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

Trusting in the Lord will cause you to never be let down. Man can change (for the worse), God doesn’t. And when we trust in the Lord to hear from Him, and do what He tells us to do no matter where we are, then we’ll experience manifestations of His goodness anywhere we go!

Before you arrive at church, are expecting to leave different and healed?

Are you expecting by faith that you WILL receive answers and direction concerning your prayers and what has been on your mind?

Many people go to church, but not everyone goes for the right reason. Some go to escape a situation. Some go to see certain individuals, or even to see the preacher. The only reason to go to church is to go for God and God alone. He is the center of us. He’s the center of our life. He’s the foundation. He’s the walls. He’s the ceiling. He’s the nail and we are the sheet rock. He holds us up. He’s the glue that keeps us from falling apart. He’s our protector, He’s our provider. He’s our strong tower that we run to and are safe. He’s our refuge. He’s our God. He’s our fortress, he’s our Father.

When something doesn’t happen, it’s not God’s fault. If nothing happens, could it be that we didn’t go for the right reason? Was our minds in other places while our answers were being poured out right before our face.

It’s very possible to see God, no matter where we are. And it starts with us having a pure heart.

Jesus Himself said in Matthew 5:8 KJV…..

8 Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.

Say this out loud, often: “God is watching me, God sees me, He knows who I’m going for.”

📝 Who you go for, determines what you get out of it.

📝 Who you go for, determines what happens to you when you leave.

Going for the wrong reasons can disguise a POWERFUL message as a “dry” message. Because of distractions. Which proves that being distracted from God can hinder one to receive from God what they’ve been needing and the answers they've been praying for.

The only way to leave changed, and see things change, is to go for God……with your mind, attention and focus on Him.

When you GO FOR GOD, you're in the zone. And when you're in the zone, you are using YOUR faith, and not relying on anyone else's. You are using YOUR prayers and not relying on anyone else's prayers. God is the one who established the prayer of agreement and we don’t hold back until we have someone to pray with us. Stir yourself up. Encourage yourself, and don’t wait on someone to encourage you.

Even David, encouraged himself in the Lord.

Let's see what that looked like:

Read 1 Samuel 30:1-8, 18-19……

What happened……

  1. David Lost All

  2. David Cried until he physically couldn't cry anymore

  3. David encouraged himself in the Lord

  4. David received instruction from the Lord

  5. David Recovered All

We can operate at such a high level of awareness to the point that the only thing we notice going on around us is what God is doing. And we’ll get there by living a life that is totally surrendered to God.

A surrendered life, is a yielded life, a life that’s ready to see God at any moment.

Psalm 74:16-17 KJV

16 The day is thine, the night is also thine: thou has prepared the light and the sun.

17 Thou has set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.

Every day, every night, and every season, is God’s.

Go into every day, night, and season, for God, and you’ll get out of each day, night and season what God needed and intended you to get from it!

Not being mindful of Him can cause you to miss Him. When He was right there all along, showing you which way to go, showing you what to do, giving you clear direction.

It's impossible to go for God, and then leave the way you came. Whether that change started the process, or it was instantaneous.

Either way, CHANGE IS HERE!

They tore the roof off to Go for Jesus

Read Mark 2:1-5, 11-13!

The pattern we see throughout the new covenant is this, when people went for God, they left different than how they came!

So with these words I encourage you, no matter where you go, no matter where you are….GO FOR GOD!

I pray for you all the time! There are times when the spirit of God stops me, and prompts me to pray for you. Stay STRONG in the Lord and in the power of His might!

Remember, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE IF A LERSON BELIEVES!
